William Turner (Independent Research)

I’m doing a quick blog post about William Turner, because he was mentioned in our critique yesterday, and he is one of the painters that I know and whose work I am particularly fond of, the reason he was brought up is because of his dramatic and dynamic sky’s, the extensive use of reds, yellows and oranges making up a beautiful yet dangerous looking sky in tandem with the rough sea, creating a feeling of movement and danger. My work was brought up because of the sky’s I managed to get, with the sun braking though the clouds, giving them an amazing set of reds, yellows and oranges, making my sky’s quite dynamic, and giving them impact.
It would be interesting to go down to the beach on a very stormy day, hopefully with a good sky and set a camera on a tripod, to get the motion of the sea and the beauty of the sky, and create a similar type of impressionistic looking photograph, where the sea is blurred showing motion, could be interesting personal work.
