10-10-2013 First Visual Studies

For our introduction to these lessons, we started of by looking at the work of our lectures, to show that they are working and successful artists in their respective fields, then we were shown some blogs which we can take inspiration for own from.
Then finally we went round several gallery’s, starting with the Mission Gallery, viewing the work of maleonn, whose work I like in some ways, but I’m not a fan of very set up images so it didn’t really inspire me, then we went to Swansea Market, to view an installation by Owen Griffiths which I’m not sure about it was interesting but to me seemed more and exploration of culture than art.
Next we went onto Elysium Gallery, and looked at the work of Yingmei Duan, I only saw part of the work, a video peace which my interpretation was that it is looking at how we all ways work have to work to get to our dreams and happiness and that nothing comes easily, there was also a performance peace in a small room but due to the fact that a lot of people wanted to go in I decided to leave it till another time.
Then finally we went to the Ragged School, and looked at Fern Thomas’s work which was amazing and really relaxing to watch with a combination of the music and the images making it very interesting work, finally I was going to go to the last gallery only went to the YMCA thinking it was there, so decided I’ll go tomorrow to the final gallery.
